FAQ’S

  • No. We will create one together. Meditation is a naturally occurring process of the nervous system's autonomic functioning. Your body already knows how to meditate. We will articulate the process and the microskills that will help you to get the most out of it.

  • No. Meditation is a natural function of the mind/body system. That is, every mind/body system. Every single person can meditate. I work with people with widely ranging beliefs and faiths. Good meditation helps you align with what you believe at your core.

  • Thoughts are natural and healthy. You do not need to stop your mind in order to meditate. This is a widely miscommunicated instruction. In actuality, you need to give yourself space to listen to yourself. This practice will teach you to be in a healthy relationship to all parts of yourself by welcoming your thoughts and giving them a safe, loving space to process themselves. By welcoming all your thoughts, feelings, ideas, memories and fantasies, you stop rejecting yourself in little pieces. Through this internal relationship building, your mind won't feel like something that you need to stop.

  • Please don't sit cross-legged if it hurts. Meditation is a practice of listening to your own needs deeply and taking care of yourself honestly. It's not a place to tear a hip labrum. Sit in whatever way you are comfortable. Or, better yet, lay down and get cozy. Or stand. Or walk. Or dance. This practice is yours. Be with it in your own body in the way your own body wants.

  • No. I offer zoom sessions. And I actually love zoom as a platform for meditation instruction. Through zoom there is no need to acclimate to my space or to receive me into your space.

  • We will begin with a complimentary 45-minute consultation. This is a time for you to ask me all your questions about getting started and why meditation works. I will learn a bit about you and what is compelling you to go deeper into meditation. Through that conversation, we will create a meditation to do together so you can get a sense of how I work.

From there, we will create a session plan. Typically I recommend weekly or biweekly sessions (1-2 hours long), for ten sessions. The more time we have to deeply consider your experience and work the tiny (and bigger) skills of meditation, the better. It's very useful to have your experiences witnessed and understood.

Many of my clients prefer to work with me consistently for years. Others like to do intensives for months at a time and then go off on their own awhile and then re-engage later. And some do three sessions with me and feel complete.

In short, we will customize a plan together. And it can change over time as your rhythms and needs shift.
